This week we were discovering all about hibernation.  We looked at several books, both fiction and non-fiction to find out that not all animals hibernate and those that do are asleep for ages!  We loved reading ‘The Bear Snores On’ with the added extra of a button that made it sound that the bear was snoring!

In maths we continued learning about adding and how to find out how much 2 numbers are when they are added together.  Some of us are getting really good at writing our own number sentences.  We’ve some super work in the learning journeys.  Next week we’ll be starting to learn about subtraction by learning about one less.

This week our Learning Super Hero was Mazda for his perseverance at settling in and becoming more confident. Well done Mazda!

We’ll be learning a new tricky word each day.  The list of words we’ll be learning will be in the homework book for you to help your child each week.   Thank you .  This week the words are: I   the   and   to   a

The children have chosen their own topic to learn about for the next two weeks: space!  We’ll be learning all about space, taking a look at the International Space Station and wondering if there are any aliens out there…?

We have started learning our songs for our Nativity. Some children are narrators and some children are acting and everyone will have a part. The Nativity will take place at 2pm and 5pm on Tuesday 12th December and tickets will be on sale soon.
We also have our school fair coming up soon on Friday 8th December.

Home Learning
Each week on a Friday we send home a blue Home Learning Journal. This will contain an activity to complete at home over the weekend or in the week (please try to use a page a week), but the books must be back in school by Thursday so we can get them ready again. Please encourage where possible your child to show their independence. We share the books with the class and the children will receive a Dojo for their learning.

This week…to tie into our new reading day (more information to come)… can you take a picture of your child reading in an ‘extreme’ way – it could be under the bed, upside down, on a trampoline or in a tree – it’s up to you.
